財政部副部長阿末瑪斯蘭敦促巫統及國陣領袖，若本身成為社交媒體言論的迫害者，應對有關人士采取法律行動。
他說，若迫害者對這些人進行起訴，將能夠減少社交媒體誹謗的文化，從而使社交媒體更具道德。
他舉例說，首相納吉早前就對行動黨全國宣傳秘書潘儉偉進行起訴，有關對方在社交網站上，發表355修正法案的誹謗言論。
“對那些發表誹謗言論的社交媒體賬戶采取法律行動，就好像首相的做法，這能夠阻止他們繼續發表誹謗的言論，讓社交媒體的道德文化提高。”
“如果有人針對我發表誹謗性的言論，我將會對有關人士提出訴訟。”
“如果只是針對一件事情被嘲笑，這是正常的，但如果這涉及誹謗，我將會非常在意。”
阿末瑪斯蘭今日在太子世界貿易中心進行“社交媒體道德”講座會後，對媒體這麼指出。
同時，阿末瑪斯蘭也呼籲巫統的支持者，在社交媒體上應該以事實作為攻擊的基礎，而不是跟隨反對派的誹謗文化及態度。
“最近有人攻擊首相，但我們必須以事實作為基礎，而不是采取誹謗的手段。”
Ahmad Maslan: File lawsuits against those who spread lies on social media
KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional leaders and Government ministers are advised to sue those who defame them on social media.
Umno IT Bureau chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan (pic) said taking legal action was necessary to stop those attacking leaders with lies on social media.
"Find out their social media accounts and sue them.
"This will teach them a lesson. Only then will they be more cautious with their postings," he said after launching Umno's inaugural Social Media Ethics Seminar here Sunday.
Ahmad said that jibes and taunts were accepted as part of politics, but not lies.
"I will sue anyone who defames me on social media," he said, adding that he had been the target of lies on social media before.
He also cited the example of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who filed defamation suits against Petaling Jaya MP Tony Pua and Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli over their social media posts.
Last month, Najib initiated legal action against Pua for posting an allegedly defamatory video against him on Facebook relating to the PAS Private Member's Bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act.
Najib and his wife Datin Rosmah Mansor sued Rafizi in 2015 for a statement about them made at a forum on oil subsidies, which was captured on video and posted on the Media Rakyat webpage as well as its YouTube and Facebook accounts.
Ahmad also clarified that Najib's recent call for Umno cybertroopers to go on the offensive was focused on attacking the Opposition with facts and not lies.
"This is what we have done in Penang and Selangor," he said.
He said that all 191 Umno IT bureaus nationwide have been activated. However, he refused to divulge the number of cybertroopers Umno has.
