Do the Same Shiny Pokemon Appear Shiny for Everyone?

Are these shiny Pokemon look shiny to every player who encounters them? Or are they unique to the individual Pokemon trainer?
At this time, the latter appears to be the case: the same Pokemon can appear shiny for some players and not for others.
That’s based on reports from gamers who have had the experience of catching a shiny Pokemon, then comparing that same Pokemon with a friend, and the two noticing that not both Pokemon are shiny.On The Silph Road supeddit, user OneLast Spock posted two screenshots of the exact same Magikarp, but it’s shiny for one player and not shiny for the other.
It does not appear that this has to do with one player not having the app up to date, as in most of the situations that have been reported, both users were playing the most recent version of
Pokemon Go.It remains to be seen whether this is an intentional choice on Niantic’s part of if it’s a temporary glitch. Some have speculated that Niantic intentionally made shinies individual to each player so as to discourage spoofing.
Keeping the shinies random like this will also make catching them much more of a random encounter, which is what Niantic seems to be going for. After all, the shiny Pokemon don’t appear shiny on the map, so you’re really only going to know that you have a shiny Pokemon on your hands once you actually start battling with it.
The only two shiny Pokemon that are currently available in the game are Magikarp and Gyarados.
