10. Ampharos

With great Stamina and Attack stats, Ampharos should eventually become a fixture in Pokemon gyms around the country. Although it has below average Defense, Ampharos has the second highest Stamina stat of any Electric-Type Pokemon, so it can absorb a bit of damage when attacking gyms. We haven't seen Ampharos in wide play yet, probably due to the relative rarity of its preevolved form Mareep

Granbull is a Fairy Type Pokemon. Donphan has high Max CP and good stats, a wide specter of movesets which makes this elephant-like Pokémon quite useful in the current meta. He is good in Gym Defense, but has even better usage as attacker. Of course, his role is heavily dependant on his moveset. Donphan has access to Counter, the best Fighting move in the game right now, which is great for taking care of Blissey and Snorlax and packs a mean Earthquake as a charge move.

Another option to use against psychic pokemon is Houndoom the evolved form of Houndour. Houndoom is one of the rare Fire Pokemon who can be used in two different ways. A Houndoom with a Fire Fang/Fire Blast combo can dish out plenty of damage to Grass and Ice Pokemon. But Houndoom is the second most powerful Dark type in the game, which gives it a strong advantage over Ghost and Psychic type Pokemon. This means that a Houndoom with Snarl/Foul Play can easily wreck any Espeon or Alakazam that crosses its path.

Unlike the lackluster regional Pokemon other areas got, South America got a real treat when it landed Heracross as its exclusive Pokemon. Heracross is the best Fighting-Type Pokemon in the game, with an elite Attack stat and decent Defense and Stamina. Heracross can also learn the most powerful Bug and Fighting-Type moves in the game, which gives it a great advantage over several common gym defenders.

. Espeon's only downside is a low stamina stat, so it shouldn't be impossible to beat it if you encounter it in a local gym.
