Pokemon Go Shuts Down Two More Trackers

Two more Pokemon Go trackers have officially gone offline. Pokesearch and PokeSensor both announced today that they are shutting down their services as a result of cease and desist letters sent to them by the Pokemon Company. The apps were two of just a handful of third party trackers left for 

Both sites used automatically generated Pokemon Trainer's Club (PTC) accounts to accessPokemon Go's servers and pass along information to players. Unfortunately for them, those PTC accounts seem to be the reason they were shut down. The Pokemon Company's cease and desist letters both referenced improper use of Pokemon Trainer's Club accounts, which could have resulted in potential legal action.

Allegedly, several other trackers also received cease and desist letters, although it's unclear if any other trackers will be shutting down. 

Pokemon Go also enacted several new limits designed to hinder bot accounts. The game recently lowered the "daily limit" of Pokemon a player can catch in a day from 1,000 to 500. The game also decreased the daily limit of PokeStop spins from 2,000 to 1,000. If a player hits the daily limit, they'll only be able to catch 200 Pokemon. It's believed that Niantic tweaked these limits to weed out automated accounts that worked 24/7.

Pokemon Go has made a renewed push in weeding out bot accounts and spoofers in recent weeks, hoping to curb cheating permanently before the release of several new features like trading and 1v1 battles.
