8 Pokemon that evolve using special items
Pokemon that evolve using special items
Right now, only eight Pokemon evolve using anything other than candy. Here's a list and what you need to evolve them:
1. Sunkern need one sun stone and 50 candies to evolve into a Sunflora.
CP | 2048 |
ATK | 185 |
DEF | 148 |
STA | 150 |
Best Moveset: Bullet Seed/Solar Beam
Sunflora is a pure GRASS Pokémon, meaning it can stand it’s ground against the common Gym attackers, which are still often WATER Type Pokémon. In reality, Sunflora is widely considered to be a weaker version of common GRASS / POISON Pokémon like Venusaur. It’s low Max CP makes her a Pokédex novelty and reduces its’ utility in gyms. As far as moves go, Sunflora has the unusual benefit of having access to Solar Beam GRASS which makes her a good prestiger, but her stats still leave a lot to be desired. Always opt for a combination with Razor Leaf GRASS.
2. Gloom needs one sun stone and 100 candies to evolve into a Bellossom
CP | 2108 |
ATK | 169 |
DEF | 189 |
STA | 150 |
Best Moveset: Razor Leaf/Petal Blizzard
Bellossom is a pure GRASS Pokémon, sharing the same Type advantages and disadvantages as Sunflora, but luckily it has better Combat Power and better stat distribution. When we say better, we mean that at least it has one viable role: Gym defense. However, Bellossom is also not a great in Gym defense or offense. Even more when you consider Bellossom movesets!
3. Poliwhirl needs one king's rock and 100 candies to evolve into a Politoed.
CP | 2371 |
ATK | 174 |
DEF | 192 |
STA | 180 |
Best Moveset:Bubble/Hydro Pump
Unlike Poliwrath, Politoed can still learn Mud Shot and has access to some rather interesting move combinations with Blizzard and Hydro Pump. It’s stats are also rather average, even more balanced than Poliwraths:
Unfortunately, it’s lowish CP holds it down and creates a situation in which Politoed is almost always dealing less damage than Poliwrath. Evidently, it’s easier to get a Politoed with a good moveset than Poliwrath.
4. Slowpoke needs one king's rock and 50 candies to evolve into a Slowking
CP | 2482 |
ATK | 177 |
DEF | 194 |
STA | 190 |
Best Moveset: Water Gun/Psychic
Slowking is a water/psychic Pokémon. , being a dual type makes you vulnerable to a lot, water will serve you well against ground, rock and fire; and psychic will serve you well against fighting and poison.
5. Onix needs one metal coat and 50 candies to evolve into Steelix
CP | 2439 |
ATK | 148 |
DEF | 333 |
STA | 150 |
Best Moveset: DragonTail/Earthquake
Steelix has some challenges in Pokemon GO also, as it’s typing makes him vulnerable to several widespread attackers (Vaporeon, Poliwrath). Its’ movepool is surprisingly good, as it has access to moves like Dragon Tail and Earthquake, making him a considerable threat in Gyms.
6. Scyther needs one metal coat and 50 candies to evolve into a Scizor.
CP | 2801 |
ATK | 236 |
DEF | 191 |
STA | 140 |
Best Moveset: Furry Cutter/Iron Head
Scizor is a mixed bag in Pokemon GO, mostly due to it’s moveset potential. Its’ Max CP is not too shabby and its stats are far better than Scyther ever had.
7.Seadra needs one dragon scale and 100 candies to evolve into Kingdra
CP | 2424 |
ATK | 194 |
DEF | 194 |
STA | 150 |
Best Moveset: Dragon Breath/Hydro Pump
Kingdra is unique in the Generation II lineup as it is both WATER and DRAGON typed, making it very difficult to have type advantage over her.Kingdra also fairs well against defenders currently in the meta (Vaporeon, Golem, Steelix,Donphan), as it takes reduced damage from following types:
8. Porygon needs one upgrade item and 50 candies to evolve into Porygon2.
CP | 2546 |
ATK | 198 |
DEF | 183 |
STA | 170 |
Best Moveset: Hidden Power/Hyper Beam
Porygon2 has the base stats to be a viable gym attacker....if it wasn't a Normal-Type Pokemon. With above average Attack and Stamina stats, Porygon2 can deal out and absorb a fair amount of damage, but there's simply too many other Pokemon that get the extra benefit of using attacks that can dish out super effective damage to defenders. At least Porygon2's ideal moveset are both Normal-Type attacks, so it gets the extra same type attack bonus to get a little extra oomph when battling.
