Top 5 useless Pokémon in Generation 2
5. Sunkern
What is it: a partially-germinated sunflower seed
Max CP: 316 (2048 when evolved to Sunflora)
What’s special about it: In the main games, Sunkern has the lowest base stat of all Pokemon (across all 7 generations, no kidding!). It is understandable since it is just a sunflower seed. Just a seed.
4. Wobbuffet
Max CP: 1024
What’s special about it: Wobbuffet is one of those Pokemon who can’t learn any moves on its own, but it has a set of 4 moves it knows in the game which makes it unique.
Similar to a punching bag, it can’t actually attack someone on its own, but it could ‘hit back’ double on a Pokemon using the moves Counter (on physical attacks) and Mirror Coat (a special attack).
Wobbuffet knows Safeguard, which could prevent itself from getting frozen, burnt or etc. It also knows Destiny Bond, in which if it faints, the opponent will faint as well.
To make things even more interesting, it has one of the highest HP among Gen 2 Pokemon, making it quite long lasting in battle. This is one magical (and creepy) punching bag, seriously!
3. Magcargo
What is it: a snail made of lava
Max CP: 1543
What’s special about it: Magcargo is the evolved form of Slugma, and it is the only Fire/Rock type you would find in the while. As it has all the disadvantages of that typing, Magcargo is ultimately the weakest fire type you can ever find, across all Pokémon generations!
2. Tyrogue
What is it: a humanoid Pokemon with baggy pants and three horns on its head
Max CP: 404 (1905 when evolved to Hitmontop)
What’s special about it: Tyrogue is able to evolve into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan or Hitmontop depending on whether its’ Attack is higher, lower or equal to its’ Defense stat.
1. Shuckle
What is it: a turtle-like rock bug
Max CP: 300
What’s special about it: Shuckle is the ultimate extreme of a Pokemon. Among all Pokemon, it has the lowest stamina and CP, however it has the highest defense, exceeding all known steel types and huge boulders. That is one rock-hard bug!
Its’ Defense is so high that you usually need two Hydro Pumps to defeat it. It used to be a very useless Pokemon back in Gen 2 because it can’t make any proper damage to anyone (except using Bide).
